Marché acquires By the Way:
 Marché
International Ltd. has acquired the operation of By the Way’s
11 roadside restaurants and 2 motels, under the name of Marché
Restaurants Norge AS. Marché is owned by the Mövenpick
Group of Switzerland and is the major player in the roadside
restaurant market in Germany, Switzerland, Slovenia and Austria.
Absolutely fresh products and quality are the main pillars
of Marche’s™ operation. The German Auto owners
association ADAC has recently renowned two of Marché’s™
restaurants as No. 1 and 2 respectively from all European
roadside restaurants. Marché Würenlos (outside
of Zürich) was recently renowned as the world’s
best roadside restaurant.
CEO
of Marche International, Mr. Oliver Altherr: “Additionally
to Switzerland and Slovenia, Marché International is
now also the market leader in Norway. The Norwegian restaurants
will gradually be converted tho the Marché’s™
fresh concept. For the next few years, we intend to invest
some CHF 6 mill in the Norwegian operation, and we are very
proud now also to be present in the Norwegian market.”

Tradition and creativity
 We
place great emphasis on both personal service and the quality
of the food we serve. For this reason, we have training programmes
for all staff, both managers and till operators, in order
to focus on the fact that you, as our guest, must be the centre
of attention.
The food we serve is home made. We make some use of processed
products from the food industry, but we have our own central
production kitchen. Here everything is made from scratch and
new kitchen technology means that we can distribute and serve
fresh food, i.e. food which has not been frozen. This improves
both the taste and consistency of the food and the economics
of our operation and contributes to you getting good value
for money
Eat for free !
Our
staff always mention our "Fordelskort" (customer
loyalty card) to you. However, in case you forget, this loyalty
card allows you to eat for free every 10 th time you dine
at one of our restaurants.

the Way over the Highway !
The
new E18, a four-lane motorway between Drammen and Kopstadkrysset,
where drivers turn off for the city of Horten, opened in October
2001. By the Way has built a rather special restaurant on
this stretch of road, just north of Holmestrand. The restaurant
form a bridge over the motorway, easily accessible to both
northbound and southbound traffic, in association with both
Statoil and Shell service stations. Easy, straightforward
access and parking, an unusual building and all the expertise
we have accumulated over 40 years" operation will all
